Wind Horse Half Marathon

Posted by: andrea - Blog - 2011/06/15

Run 13.1 miles on Bellingham’s beautiful Interurban Trail which spans from Fairhaven Park to Clayton Beach. Run the whole distance yourself or split the trip with a friend. After the race, enjoy Mongolian traditional food and music.

This race raises funds for children in Mongolia to attend school. $50.00 covers annual expenses for textbooks, school supplies, and school uniforms for a child. Bellingham’s newest sister city, Tsetserleg, Mongolia, will become official this summer. Funds from this race will be presented by delegates from Bellingham when citizens from both cities sign their Sister Cities agreement this August in Tsetserleg.

Save the date!
Our friend, bestselling author Cami Ostman, has generously offered to create a race to raise money for Blue Sky’s projects in Arkhangai.

The Windhorse Half Marathon will take place on the beautiful Interurban trail south of Bellingham, WA on July 16th. Details to follow but, in the meantime, get your running shoes ready!

Baby Booties

Posted by: andrea - Blog - 2011/01/14

Purchase of these handmade sheepskin booties will give your baby happy feet! It will also help to support a Mongolian family and send a kid to school. What a bargain for $20! Baby Gap sells something similar for the same price, but it’s made out of synthetics and doesn’t do any of the good stuff mentioned above. You can buy ‘em by clicking here.

Report from our teacher in Jargalant

Posted by: andrea - Blog - 2011/01/13

We received this great update from our first traveling teacher. We met with her over the summer and were so impressed with her attitude and training. She has enrolled students of all ages who have not attended school. She will be working to help them reach 6th-grade equivalency so they have options for the future. This was written in December (took a little while to translate). I am so happy we found such a wonderful teacher for our program!

2010-10-10
How are you? I am passing the warmest greetings of this day to all of you. We wish you the success in your endeavors, the best wishes, happiness and well-being to all of you. With your generous support, the program to raise the educational achievement of 12 students of 12 households in this tiny soum of Mongolia successfully commenced.
I am contented to be a teacher who is delivering to you this package which includes brief background information about the students involved in this program, the content and expenditure statement for this program. Both students and their parents are passing you their gratitude for organizing and supporting this educational program.
Students are very enthusiastic about their learning, currently. Next time we will send the photo…Bye for now, till the next letter. God bless you, people with the generous heart and we wish you life is filled with happiness. Thank you very much to all of you.
