4/15/2010. FUNDRAISER REPORT: HOW’D WE DO?
Our first fundraiser was fun, and a success!
We enjoyed amazing morin khuur music performed by Urnasan Gantulga after a blessing by Altankhuu, a Seattle based Mongolian monk. It was fantastic to share our projects with friends new and old.
Together we raised enough money to fund a mobile teacher for the year, to sponsor 28 new children (our goal for the year is 50), and to send two young adults to teacher college in Arkhangai. Thanks to all of you who helped make this event a success!

8/21/2009. SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS CEREMONY IN ERDENET
The governor of Jargalant Sum very generously offered his car to bring our scholarship students to a home with internet access. Several of our board were able to video conference with them on Friday night (Saturday morning in Mongolia):
Biambasuren, a retired school principal and one of our busiest volunteers, presented each child with an award certificate and let them know how important is is to do well in school. Their teachers were also present and offered speeches to mark the occasion. The children all wore their best outfits and sang songs for us. It was wonderful to “meet” them all, if only over the internet. They insisted that, to be fair, we should sing for them as well, so we all joined in with “The Itsy Bitsy Spider.” Each of the children stepped up to the microphone and said thank you. All of them promised to work very hard and to make their teachers proud.
It was a tremendous evening! We are grateful to Osokhoo for his technical help. And we wish all the scholarship students a wonderful first day of school next week!
